Kizimkazi is a small fishing village located in the southern part of the island, starting point of motor boats. An excursion for snorkelers who will be able to experience the wonders of the Indian Ocean and spot dolphins (depending on the season and tides).

Jozani Forest It is the most important of the three forests on the island. Extensive more than 2,400 hectares, it is home to numerous specimens of the red colobus monkey, an endemic monkey of Zanzibar and the diadem monkey, which live in uncontaminated vegetation among plane trees, mahogany trees, ferns and many other species.

Stone Town The ancient Stone Town, city of stone and capital of Zanzibar, is one of the most fascinating places on the island: a labyrinth of winding streets overlooked by whitewashed coral houses and majestic palaces rich in history and culture.

Prison Island From the port of StoneTown, aboard a dhow, you reach Prison Island populated by more than 150 turtles. After visiting the ancient prisons, you reach a strip of sand where you immerse yourself in the crystal clear waters among fish and corals. Lunch based on typical dishes served in the shade of a colorful kanga.

Blue Safari On board a dhow we set sail towards the splendid bay of Manai, a place of passage for numerous dolphins. After a tasty barbecue on the beach, it is possible to try sailing with a ngalawa, the characteristic local trimaran.

Tour of the island On board an off-road vehicle and accompanied by an expert guide, we reach Nungwi where we visit a dhow factory, the typical local sailing vessel still built today with primordial techniques. The morning continues in the name of the sea and the sun on pristine beaches. After lunch, you will visit inland villages and a spice plantation.

Deep-sea fishing Possibility to rent a boat equipped for deep-sea fishing, accompanied by expert local sailors.

Documents Individual passport (even for minors from 0 years onwards) valid for 6 months after the date of leaving the country (with valid revenue stamp).

Entry visa USD 50 per person (subject to change without notice).

Vaccinations At the time of printing of the catalogue, there are no compulsory vaccinations. Recommended
malaria prophylaxis and yellow fever vaccination. Subsequent changes will be promptly communicated.

Time zone 2 hours more than in Italy during solar time and 1 hour more during summer time.

Ki-Swahili and English language.

Currency The local monetary unit is the Tanzanian Shilling. It is recommended to bring US Dollars (only banknotes issued after 2001). At the Dongwe Club, Euros are also accepted, with which it is possible to pay for any extras.

Credit Cards American Express, MasterCard (not Electron) and Visa (also Electron) are accepted at Dongwe Club, with which you can pay any extras.

During the safaris, major credit cards are accepted but it is advisable to bring a small amount of cash in US dollars, as some lodges and/or tented camps do not have credit card services.

Voltage 220 V, with sockets with rectangular blades. Italian plugs can be used in the Village, while for safaris it is advisable to bring an adapter.

Airport taxes USD 43 per person (subject
subject to changes without notice): USD 35 boarding tax + USD 8 “aviation safety fee” (not documentable).

Mobile Phones GSM phones may be used except in certain areas in parks.

Tips Although not mandatory, they are always very welcome. In addition to the hotel staff, it is customary to leave a tip to the guides and/or drivers who accompany you for the entire duration of the safari.

Climate Tropical climate regulated by trade winds and monsoons which bring heavy rainfall between March and May and between October and December. The seasons between June and September, January and February are drier, with high temperatures but mitigated by the breeze. Zanzibar is subject, like Tanzania and Kenya, to a tidal differential: in some periods of the year the difference between the minimum and the maximum makes an evident change to the coast and the beaches with the presence of algae on the beach and/or patches in the sea.

The information relating to the climate is entirely indicative and based on the averages of past years. All over the world we are witnessing a climatic transformation that prevents us from giving precise information.

Summer and informal clothing, practical for safaris and excursions, without forgetting raincoats, hats, sunglasses, rubber shoes and some heavier items for “winter” evenings from July to September.

Animals are not accepted.

Medicines It is recommended to bring along the usual personal medicines and the most common ones such as antihistamines, antibiotics, cortisone, anti-flu, intestinal disinfectants, plasters, ammonia sticks, ear drops, ointments for possible burns, high protection creams. However, it is suggested that you consult your doctor for the most appropriate advice on the type of medicines suitable for travel.
It should be remembered that the tropical area is subject to unpredictable meteorological variations, as a result of which there may be situations of marked presence of insects which are sometimes annoying. Any bites from these insects/mosquitoes usually do not represent a risk of infection, being limited to itchy skin changes, depending on the different skin pigmentation of the subject. It is therefore advisable, based on personal sensitivity, to obtain repellent products.

Minors Unaccompanied minors cannot be accommodated. They are welcomed from 2 years onwards. There are no special facilities or assistance.
